Jamie-Grace Harper popularly known as Jamie Grace is an American Contemporary Christian musician, singer, rapper and songwriter born on 25 November 1991 in Los Angeles, California, USA, also a speaker & actress popularly known for her black hair with hot pink highlights, braids on one side. Her parents, James and Mona Harper, founded and are the pastors of Kingdom City Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Has an older sister named Morgan and brother-in-law named Patrick.
. Diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome at the age of 11 she lives life with a streak of resilience and dedication that is well beyond her years. She began acting and singing as a young child in school and church programs. A few years after her diagnosis of TS, OCD and ADHD she began pursuing music, acting and speaking as a career and a way to encourage other kids who may also have struggles in life. She plays the drums, guitar, piano, bass guitar, ukulele and banjo.
She was also an outgoing and friendly child but credits her few years learning to live with Tourette as the moments she realized she wasn't alone. She wanted to use her story to encourage other people by being apart of anything with a great message - music, films, etc. As the years after her 14th birthday, when she got a drum set, progressed she found herself writing songs, scripts and learning to play the guitar. Jamie has since become a full time recording artist, an actress and wouldn't be opposed to creating films in the future.
In 2010 she was discovered (via her YouTube channel) by TobyMac and signed to his label Gotee Records. She released the song "Hold Me" in 2011 (landing her a nomination at the 2012 Grammys) and won the 2012 Dove Award for New Artist of the Year.
In a somewhat unique style, Jamie Grace combines elements of hip hop, folk, and pop into one distinct sound. In addition, she occasionally uses elements of guest vocalists, such as TobyMac in "Hold Me" and GabeReal from DiverseCity in "One Song at a Time".
She's appeared on such high profile media outlets as "The View" and her YouTube channel has surpassed 16 million views. The momentum continues with "Beautiful Day," the first single from Ready To Fly, which has briskly ascended the charts since its release.
"I'm just pumped that people are already excited about 'Beautiful Day' and that they are playing it," Jamie says, but she admits to being a little worried about what music biz insiders refer to as the sophomore slump. "This is scary, you have your whole life to write your first record and then you get to your second record and you've got one to three years, so it's totally different. It was a little intimidating, but then there were days when I thought, 'This is so fun!' I was just excited because the songs were sounding really good. I felt very confident while I was in the studio recording this album." -- Jamie Grace
Her parents moved to Georgia when she was very young to start a church. Jamie Grace was raised, and still lives in, metropolitan Atlanta.
