Tedashii talks new album, 'Jumped Out the Whip' and different sound

Tedashii told Rapzilla at the 2015 Dove Awards that he is far into the creation process of his fifth studio album.

"I like to go in with a concept — I'm super conceptual — go in with a concept, sit down and do maybe 45 songs and then come together with everyone to pick the ones that best communicate what I'm trying to say holistically," Tedashii said.

The Reach Records rapper, who released his last album, Below Paradise, in May 2014, said he was halfway done on the day of the Doves, Oct. 11.

Tedashii also shared the thought behind his second single this year, "Jumped Out the Whip," which hepremiered at the ceremony.

"I honestly did it because over the last few years of my life, just in and out of hardship, and downs and ups, and so forth and so on, I needed a fun release," Tedashii said, "and so this song is that."

"Jumped Out the Whip" and Tedashii's previous single, "Be Me," sound notably different than his other music. How much he maintains that sound on his next LP is to be determined, though.

"I don't know if it's the album sound," he said, "but it's definitely a direction."
