Both Chelsea and Manchester United are in the market for a new central defender and are willing to spend £40 million on Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos according to The Telegraph.
The Brazilian is one of the most highly rated young centre-halves in the global game but is not an automatic first choice in Laurent Blanc’s starting XI.
Chelsea need a new leader at the back as John Terry is leaving the club in the summer, while Kurt Zouma has suffered a serious injury.
United have been playing Daley Blind at the centre of their defence and are expected to splurge on a new defender this summer.
Both teams have not reached their potential this season and are set to spend big ahead of next season to get back amongst the silverware reckoning.
Marquinhos is a fully-fledged Brazil international and could be the answer to both their prayers, but a battle for his services looks set to start.
