Early Friday morning in Manchester, New Hampshire two police officers were shot  and there is a massive search underway for the gunman.

Police said the first officer was shot around 2 a.m. at Second and Ferry streets.

As officers searched for the gunman, there was a second shooting at Putnam and Dubuque streets.

Both officers “seem to be fine,” according to police. They are being treated at local hospitals for non-life threatening injuries. Their names have not been made public.

The man believed to be responsible for both shootings has not been captured. Investigators say he is white, has long hair and was wearing a trench coat.

Several streets have been shut down and some schools have been closed for the day because of the manhunt.

Police have put in a “shelter in place” for the area around Wayne Street, Putnam Street and Rimmon Street.

Officers have been seen on the streets with their weapons drawn.

Schools on the west side of the city were shut down for day because of the search, including Gossler Park, Northwest, Parker Varney, Middle at Park Side and West High.
