We have an historic race call to make. The Fox News Decision Desk can now project that Republican Donald Trump will win Pennsylvania’s 20 electoral votes, thereby putting him over the 270 votes needed to defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton and become the 45th President of the United States.
That’s right, Donald John Trump -- the brash New York deal-maker who shocked the political establishment with his highly unorthodoxcampaign – has succeeded in his bid to become the next leader of the free world.
Trump, who entered the campaign as a political novice and then proceeded to dispatch a crowded field of seasoned Republican politicians, will be the oldest president in U.S. history, entering the Oval Office at age 70.
And so Hillary Rodham Clinton, 69, falls short in her second bid to become the first female President of the United States. She would have been the first spouse of a president to become president herself, returning to the White House with her husband, Bill Clinton, who once promised supporters they would get two Clintons “for the price of one.”
But tonight the voters decided, as they have for a generation, not to trust the White House to the same political party for three consecutive terms.
Again, a true political earthquake tonight. Donald Trump -- whose White House ambitions were widely mocked and dismissed by pundits, Democrats and even many Republicans -- is now President-Elect of the United States of America.
