Chinese club offered Real Madrid £250m for Cristiano Ronaldo move, says agent

DBliss Media Sports
Cristiamo Ronaldo with Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zadane
Real Madrid were offered about £250m by an unnamed Chinese club for Cristiano Ronaldo, according to the Portuguese player's agent Jorge Mendes.

He said the 31-year-old forward had no interest in the deal, which included an £85m annual salary.

Mendes told Sky Italia: "From China, they've offered 300m euros (£257m) to Real Madrid and more than 100m per year to the player.

"But money is not everything. The Spanish club [Real] is his life."

The revelation comes after Carlos Tevez was reportedly made the world's highest-paid footballer by Shanghai Shenua.

Shanghai, coached by ex-Brighton boss Gus Poyet, are reported to have agreed a deal worth £40m for Tevez, including a salary in excess of £310,000 a week.

Under the offer claimed by Mendes, Ronaldo would have earned £1.6m a week in a deal worth almost treble the world record transfer fee of £89m paid by Manchester United to Juventus for midfielder Paul Pogba.

"The Chinese market is a new market. They can buy a lot of players, but then again it is impossible to go for Ronaldo. Cristiano is the best player in the world and best ever. It is normal to have some offers," said Mendes.

The Portugal captain said he could play for another 10 years after signing a new deal, which ties him to Madrid until June 2021, last month.

BBC contributed to this report.

Home forward Sergio Leon chipped against the Barca crossbar before Suarez broke Osasuna's resistance by tapping in Jordi Alba's low cross.

Left-back Alba also provided the second, cutting back from the left byeline for Messi to clip into the far corner.

And the Argentina forward sealed a routine victory with a fine individual goal, dancing into space inside the home penalty area before drilling in.

Real, who started the weekend with a six-point lead over Barca, host struggling Deportivo La Coruna later on Saturday (19:45 GMT).

Real Madrid 3-2 Deportivo La Coruna La Liga Match Results & Highlights (Real set unbeaten run with dramatic win)

Madrid celebrate an important Sergio Ramos injury-time goal scored for the second Saturday running
Sergio Ramos headed another dramatic injury-time goal as Spanish league leaders Real Madrid created a new club record of 35 matches unbeaten with a barely deserved win against Deportivo La Coruna.

Real, without the rested Cristiano Ronaldo, fought back from 2-1 down in the final six minutes to restore their six-point advantage over arch-rivals Barcelona, who won 3-0 at Osasuna earlier on Saturday.

Zinedine Zidane's side laboured in an uninspiring first half which saw Depor midfielder Celso Borges head against the post.

Striker Alvaro Morata's 20-yard drive shortly after the restart appeared to ease the tension among the home fans.

However, Depor substitute Joselu - on loan from English Premier League side Stoke - swung the match dramatically in favour of the visitors.

He powered in the equaliser with a rising drive into the top-left corner after on-loan Aston Villa midfielder Carles Gil dispossessed Casemiro on the edge of his penalty area.

And Joselu, who came through the ranks at the Bernabeu, increased the nervousness by pouncing on more defensive uncertainty to slot home.

But the drama did not end there.

Real equalised with six minutes left when substitute Mariano Diaz scored his first La Liga goal with a fortuitous effort that flew in off his shoulder.

Then, skipper Ramos - whose late equaliser earned Real a vital draw at Barcelona last weekend - headed in Toni Kroos' corner to spark jubilant celebrations at the Bernabeu.

It means that Zidane's men have surpassed Real's previous record of 34 games unbeaten, set under Dutch coach Leo Beenhakker in 1988-89.

What's next?

A trip to Japan for Real Madrid. The Champions League winners go to the Club World Cup, where they will play either South Korea's Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors or Mexican side America in the semi-finals on Thursday (10:30 GMT).

Barcelona 1-1 Real Madrid El Clasico Match Results & Highlights (Real strike late to snatch draw at Barca)

Luis Suarez has nine goals and three assists in La Liga this season
Sergio Ramos scored a stoppage-time equaliser to extend Real Madrid's unbeaten start to the season and deny Barcelona victory in a bad tempered El Clasico.

Luis Suarez's glancing header from Neymar's left-wing free-kick put Barcelona ahead at the Nou Camp.

But in a frantic ending, Cristiano Ronaldo went close before Ramos headed home Luka Modric's free-kick to earn a point for Zinedine Zidane's La Liga leaders.

Real remain six points clear of defending champions Barca after 14 matches.

Barca were moments away from reducing the gap to three points when Real captain Ramos pounced to make it 33 games without defeat for his side.

Real are approaching the winter break in the driving seat, Barca having gone three matches with a league win.

Barca pay the price for late lapse

The hosts started slowly and managed only one attempt on goal - a Lionel Messi free-kick was comfortably gathered by Keylor Navis - in a scrappy first half.

In contrast, Ronaldo had three attempts in the opening 45 minutes as Luka Modric dominated for Real in midfield.

While far from their fluid best, Barca were better after the break and went in front when Raphael Varane conceded a free-kick just outside his area and Neymar nodded home from close range.

Messi missed a great chance to double the lead after a lovely pass from substitute Andres Iniesta, on his return from injury, before Ramos had the final say.

What's next?

Both teams are in Champions League action in midweek. Real Madrid must beat Borussia Dortmund at the Bernabeu on Wednesday at 19:45 GMT to finish top of Group F.

Barcelona have already qualified as Group C leaders. They entertain Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday at 19:45 GMT).

Real Sociedad 1-1 Barcelona La Liga Match Results & Highlights (Barcelona six behind Real Madrid after draw)

Barcelona have not won away at Real Sociedad since 2007, and had lost on their previous four league visits

Barcelona head into next week's first El Clasico of the season six points behind leaders Real Madrid after scraping a draw at Real Sociedad.

The champions - who have now failed to win in their last eight games at Anoeta Stadium - were outplayed and had to come from behind to secure a point.

Willian Jose headed the hosts ahead, Gerard Pique helping the ball over the line while attempting a clearance.

The lead lasted six minutes, Lionel Messi scoring against the run of play.

Match Highlights

La Real should have won the game when Juanmi tapped home a rebound from close range after Carlos Vela hit the crossbar, but the former Southampton forward, who had only been on the pitch for seconds, was wrongly ruled offside.

Former Arsenal forward Vela, 27, hit the woodwork for a second time when his 20-yard effort hit a post six minutes from time.

Luis Enrique's visitiors had 47.7% possession, the first time this season they have had less of the ball than their opponents.

Barca, who have now failed to win their last two La Liga games, are second in the table on 27 points from 13 games - level on points with Sevilla.

Real Sociedad - who had won their previous four home games in the league against Barcelona - have 23 points and climb to fifth.

Barcelona host Zinedine Zidane's side at the Nou Camp next Saturday (15:15 GMT).

Real Madrid 2-1 Sporting Gijon Match Results & Highlights (Ronaldo double gives Real victory)

⚽ Sporting Gijon faced the unenviable task of travelling to the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday to face a Real Madrid team that is in red-hot form.

The Portugal international scored twice in the opening 20 minutes to give the Spanish giants a hard-fought victory on Saturday, despite the visitors' late pressure

Real Madrid were let off the hook by Duje Cop's missed penalty as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in an unconvincing 2-1 win over Sporting Gijon at a sodden Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday.

La Liga leaders Madrid were without star man Gareth Bale, who has been ruled out for up to four months with an ankle tendon injury, but appeared comfortable enough as talisman Ronaldo came to the fore in the soaking capital.

The Portugal superstar netted twice inside 18 minutes, opening the scoring from the spot after Lucas Vasquez - deputising for Bale - was felled in the area, before adding a second with a thumping header.

However, Gijon were gifted a lifeline before the break when Carlos Carmona profited from some slack play by Luka Modric.

It appeared as though a further twist was in store when Gijon were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute, but Cop fluffed his lines from 12 yards as Madrid hung on for the three points.

Zinedine Zidane's men consequently up the ante on Barcelona, who play at Real Sociedad on Sunday, with Luis Enrique's side - who host Madrid in the first Clasico of the season next week - seven points adrift of the leaders.

The visitors started well and almost broke the deadlock in the first minute, but Carmona prodded just wide from close range after a clever reverse pass from Moi Gomez.

Match Highlights

Real took full advantage of that let-off shortly after, though, as Vazquez jinked past Isma Lopez to draw the foul in the area and Ronaldo slammed the resulting penalty into the bottom-right corner.

Ronaldo threatened again without succeeding a few moments later, but he did not have to wait much longer to double his tally - meeting Nacho Fernandez's brilliant left-wing cross with an emphatic header in the 18th minute.

Despite their defensive deficiencies, Gijon looked lively going forward and they gave themselves a lifeline 10 minutes before the break.

Modric's sloppy pass was intercepted in midfield and Gijon worked the ball down the left before Carmona directed Lopez's cross into the bottom-right corner with a hopeful flick of his right foot.

Gijon continued to see plenty of the ball after the break, but Real should have restored their two-goal lead just before the hour mark when Karim Benzema headed Vazquez's inch-perfect cross straight at Diego Marino.

Real began to tighten their grip on proceedings thereafter as they started passing forward with more purpose in an attempt to curb Gijon's belief.

But they needed a slice of luck 12 minutes from the end as Cop screwed his penalty wide of the top-right corner after Nacho fouled Victor Rodriguez in the area.

Real needed Keylor Navas to be alert shortly after to palm away Cop's close-range effort and Zidane's men held on for a scrappy win to throw down a gauntlet for Barcelona.

Sevilla 1-2 Barcelona La Liga Highlights (Messi and Suarez score in Barcelona victory)

Lionel Messi - booked after losing his boot in a tackle - scored his 469th career goal for Barcelona
Luis Suarez ensured Barcelona did not lose any more ground on La Liga leaders Real Madrid by striking a second-half winner against Sevilla.

The Uruguayan converted in the 61st minute from Lionel Messi's pass for his 95th goal in 112 Barcelona games.

Vitolo gave Sevilla the lead when he slotted home in the 15th minute before Messi equalised from 18 yards.

Barcelona now have 25 points from 11 games, just two behind Real, with Sevilla back on 21 points.

Luis Enrique's Spanish champions created numerous chances after the break as they started to open up their opponent's defence.

Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico made two good saves to keep his side in the game. He kept out a stinging effort from Croatian midfielder Ivan Rakitic and then tipped over a shot from Messi, who had received the ball from Suarez's sublime backheel volley.

Suarez also produced another brilliant piece of skill when he rounded keeper Rico and then rolled the ball across the six-yard area. The ball eluded Messi, who had failed to read his team-mate's intentions.

Sevilla were overawed in the second half but did go close when former Blackburn player Steven Nzonzi headed narrowly wide of Marc-Andre ter Stegen's left-hand upright.

Real Madrid 3-0 Leganes Match Highlights (Bale scores two as leaders Real beat Leganes)

Gareth Bale has scored three goals in his last two Real Madrid appearances
Gareth Bale celebrated his new contract with two goals as La Liga leaders Real Madrid signed off for the international break with victory over Leganes.

Real were far from convincing against their newly promoted neighbours until Bale latched on to Isco's pass to open the scoring.

Match Highlights
The Wales forward got a second on the stroke of half-time after bundling the ball over from close range.

Alvaro Morata added the third after the interval.

Real stay top without playing well

Zinedine Zidane's side moved five points clear of second-placed Barcelona, who are in action later on Sunday away to third-placed Sevilla (19:45 GMT).

Yet Real, who blew a 2-0 lead to draw 3-3 at Legia Warsaw in the Champions League in midweek, struggled against their lowly opponents before Bale broke the deadlock seven minutes before half-time.

He raced on to a through ball from Isco that split the visiting defence and rounded goalkeeper Jon Serantes to tuck the ball inside the near post from a tight angle.

Bale then took advantage of poor defending from a free-kick to hit the second. Even then Real looked vulnerable.

It required a finger-tip save by Keylor Navas to deny Alexander Szymanowski before Morata, standing in for the injured Karim Benzema, made it 3-0.

A big plus for Zidane is the return from the bench of midfielder Luka Modric after injury.

The Real manager's options will be boosted further when Brazilian midfielder Casemiro returns from injury in the near future.

He will be needed.

Real's first game after the international break is away at neighbours Atletico Madrid, while the first El Clasico of the season against Barcelona is on 3 December.

Barcelona 1-0 Granada Match Highlight (Barca edge past Granada to move second)

Barcelona are the defending La Liga champions, while bottom-dwelling Granada are winless this year and have just three points on the season. To spell it out, Barcelona shouldn't have had trouble knocking off their counterpart in Saturday's late La Liga contest.

Nevertheless, Barcelona were made to work for their victory against Granada. Both sides were goalless at halftime, a surprise in and of itself, as Barcelona had their patented dominance of possession but bupkis to show for it. Tension at the Camp Nou was growing, but Rafinha caught magic in a bottle early in the second half.

MATCH HIGHLIGHT

Somehow, Neymar conspired to hit the post after a beautiful team move. However, a lurking Rafinha was in position to capitalize on the ricochet and hopped on his bike to do so, blasting a powerful overhead kick past Memo Ochoa. Rafinha has found himself with more playing time as Andres Iniesta recovers from an injured knee ligament. The 23-year-old has capitalized on the additional work, scoring in every game that he's started this season.

Rafinha has scored five league goals from six shots on target this season
With Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar all misfiring on the day, saving Barcelona's blushes against Granada might be Rafinha's most important goal of the season.

Alaves 1-4 Real Madrid Match Highlight (Ronaldo hat-trick helps Real ease past Alaves). #AlavésRealMadrid

Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored a hat-trick against 20 different clubs for Real Madrid, with Alaves his latest victim
Cristiano Ronaldo scored a hat-trick and missed a penalty as Real Madrid beat Alaves and increased their lead at the top of La Liga.

Deyverson gave Alaves an early lead but then gave a penalty away which was converted by the Portugal forward.

Ronaldo added a second before the break with a deflected shot but had a second spot-kick saved by Alaves goalkeeper Fernando Pacheco 10 minutes from time.

Match Highlight
Alvaro Morata scored Real's third before Ronaldo completed his treble.

Zinedine Zidane's side are three points clear of second-placed Sevilla who were held to a 1-1 draw by Sporting Gijon earlier in the day.

Alaves were unbeaten at home in La Liga before this match, but once again Ronaldo's impact on the game was decisive.

The 31-year-old confidently sent Pacheco the wrong away from the penalty spot to equalise after Brazilian forward Deyverson was deemed to have handled, then his long-range effort sailed into the top corner.

Pacheco guessed correctly to save Ronaldo's second penalty, but Real's record goalscorer would not be denied his hat-trick and fired home after he exchanged passes with Marcelo inside the area.

Real Madrid 2-1 Athletic Bilbao Highlight (Late Morata goals sends Real Madrid top of La Liga)

Alvaro Morata's goal was only his second in nine La Liga games since his summer return from Juventus
Real Madrid went top of the La Liga table thanks to a hard-fought victory over Athletic Bilbao.

Karim Benzema put Real 1-0 up after Isco squared it to the French striker.

But Sabin Merino levelled after Pepe and Dani Carvajal failed to take the ball from Javier Eraso.

Cristiano Ronaldo missed a host of chances for Real but substitute Alvaro Morata, on his 24th birthday, was the hero at the second attempt after Gorka Iraizoz saved his shot.

Ronaldo out of sorts?

Ronaldo looked short of confidence with his finishing throughout the game, although he was not afraid to try.

This chance in the first half saw Cristiano Ronaldo shoot straight at the goalkeeper when he could have picked out Karim Benzema or Gareth Bale
He had 11 shots in the game, more than Athletic's combined total of 10, but only two of those were on target.

The Portugal captain, who missed the start of the season through injury, has only scored two goals in six La Liga games this season with both coming in convincing victories.

His malaise was best summed up when Lucas Vazquez found him in space in injury time, with Athletic having taken risks in a bid to find an equaliser.

Ronaldo had plenty of time to pick his spot or go round Gorka Iraizoz, but instead he shot straight at the goalkeeper.

They started in best possible fashion where Varane headed home the first goal while Benzema, Marcelo and Isco scored before the break to put Real Madrid in commanding position with 4-0 lead at half time. Isco scored his second of the night Alvaro Cejudo had given homside something to celebrate.

What Zidane said after the match
“The match was a benchmark for us. It's not easy to play like that away from home”, said the coach.
Znedine Zidane discussed Real Madrid's goal fest at the Benito VillamarĂn: “I'm really pleased after the three draws in the league. We needed a match like this and we showed the intensity we needed to win from the start. It's a difficult ground, we started strongly and it's very tough for our opponents if we play like that”.

“I've got good players, they're intelligent. They knew we had to start strongly and they did that superbly. Playing like that from the first minute makes it difficult for the opponent. We worked towards trying to do that and now we have to be consistent and continue in the same way. It's a reference point. It's not easy to play like that away from home”.
