Manchester United 2-0 Hull City EFL Cup Match Result and Highlight.

⚽ Mata and Fellaini put United in charge ahead of second leg.

DBliss Media Sports
Juan Mata was at the centre of their best opportunities and got the crucial breakthrough when Hull were threatening to frustrate Jose Mourinho's side
After a EFL Cup semi-final first leg victory over Hull City, Man United boss, Jose Mourinho has just moved a step closer to winning his first major title as Man United's manager, thanks to the brilliant goals from Juan Mata and Marouane Fellaini.

United attempted to weaken resilient Hull in a first half in which the hosts had only two shots on target - Mata driving a decent save out of goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic, who additionally tipped over Paul Pogba's long-run strike.

However, we shouldn't forget that visitors had chances of their own, Robert Snodgrass was causing problems from set-pieces and that was a serious threat to United defence.

Match Highlights
In any case, football is not all about creating chances and not scoring, it creating chances and scoring and united did just that when Mata got the leap forward just before the hour check when he tapped in from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's knockdown.

Then in the 87' minutes, Substitute Fellaini scored, heading in from Matteo Darmian's cross to place United in charge heading into the second leg on 26 January. Don't forget we will have live stream links on DBliss Media for that match.

What the managers had to say:

Marco Silva Hull City Manager:
"It's a pity we suffered the second goal in the last minutes because we tried to keep the result open for the second game. But I'm happy with the work. Of course I'm not happy with the result. But I'm happy with the work of my players. It was not easy to come here with Man United in good form, but we worked well tonight and we will continue with our work."
Jose Mourinho Manchester United Manager:
"Maybe I didn't prepare the team right. I didn't give them enough intensity, and we had to change that at half-time. Maybe I should pay more attention to the dynamic of the game. We have to improve for Sunday. Today our performance was enough to win, but Sunday we all have to improve."

West Ham United 0-2 Man Utd Premier League Match Results and Highlights

⚽ Man Utd beat West Ham after controversial sending off

DBliss Media Sports
Juan Mata celebrating his goal minutes after coming as a substitute
Manchester United moved level on points with fifth-placed Tottenham after victory at West Ham, who played for 75 minutes with 10 men following the controversial dismissal of Sofiane Feghouli.

Referee Mike Dean showed Feghouli a straight red card after the midfielder's 15th-minute challenge on Phil Jones.

Replays showed it was more of a coming together between two players committed to winning the ball than a reckless challenge meant to cause harm.

Antonio Valencia was guilty of an astonishing miss for the visitors before substitute Juan Mata scored from 10 yards after Marcus Rashford's clever pass.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was one of three players offside when he doubled the lead after Pedro Obiang's clearance fell to Ander Herrera.

It was Jose Mourinho's side's sixth straight Premier League win and their seventh in all competitions.

Match Highlight

Dean at the centre of controversy - again

The Hammers have beaten Bournemouth, Sunderland, Burnley and Hull at home this season, yet their hopes of claiming a first major scalp at London Stadium were undone by the fastest sending off in the Premier League this season.

Manchester United have won their past seven league and cup games
There is no doubt Feghouli lost control of the ball and deserved a booking for his challenge on Jones.

But Dean, who sent off Southampton's Nathan Redmond in the 4-1 defeat by Tottenham on Wednesday, brandished a red card for the fifth time this season, much to the fury of West Ham boss Slaven Bilic.

Jones, who was clearly hurt and rolled over several times before receiving treatment, was booed by home fans for the rest of the game each time he touched the ball.

Feghouli is now set to miss his side's FA Cup third-round home tie against Manchester City on Friday, while Hammers supporters showed their anger at the official by chanting 'Mike Dean - it's all about you'.

In the second half, Dean kept his cards in his pocket after Cheikhou Kouyate's reckless challenge on Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

Man United 2-1 Middlesbrough Premier League Match Results and Highlights

⚽ Man Utd need late comeback to defeat Boro

DBliss Media Sports
Paul Pogba scored his sixth goal of the season for Manchester United
Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba scored late goals as Manchester United deservedly beat Middlesbrough in the Premier League.

The home side had fallen behind when Grant Leadbitter gave Boro a shock lead, drilling home a low finish from Alvaro Negredo's knock down.

Up until then, United had bossed a match in which Pogba struck the post with an overhead kick and Martial hit the same upright with a long-range strike.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic also had a goal harshly ruled out for a high boot on ex-United goalkeeper Victor Valdes, while the Spaniard twice blocked the United striker's shots from close range in the second half.

With time running out, Frenchman Martial poked in on 85 minutes and fellow countryman Pogba headed into the top corner a minute later.

Mourinho's men show their mettle

Having been frustrated following wave after wave of attacks, it looked like United were going to be left without a point when they fell behind at home to Boro.

Jose Mourinho's men had forced Valdes into 10 saves - which highlighted their dominance - and it looked like being a clean sheet for the keeper on his return to Old Trafford.

But United's 65% possession was worthwhile in the end as Martial and Pogba scored within one minute and 20 seconds of each other to spark jubilant scenes from both the home players and supporters at the final whistle.

The world's most expensive player Pogba danced in the middle of the pitch, while boss Mourinho hugged counterpart Aitor Karanka in consolation.

The Red Devils are now unbeaten in their last 10 league games - winning all five in December - and are just one point adrift of fourth-placed Arsenal.

Jose Mourinho invites Sir Alex Ferguson to visit Manchester United training ground

DBliss Media
Jose Mourinho invites Sir Alex Ferguson to visit Manchester United training ground
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has revealed former boss Sir Alex Ferguson has been back to the club's Carrington training ground several times this season.

Ferguson retired in 2013 as the club's most successful manager.

The 74-year-old Scot had stayed away from Carrington since then.

"He had not been back since he left, but I brought him back to be with his people," Mourinho told the United We Stand fanzine (subscription required).

"I wanted the players to see the big man and for me and him to share some minutes and have lunch together. I enjoyed it, he enjoyed it."

In his 26 years at Old Trafford, Ferguson led United to 13 league titles, two Champions League crowns, five FA Cups and four League Cups.

"I'm the type of person who does not see ghosts. I respect the past and I know he loves the club," said Mourinho, who was appointed in May as the third manager to succeed Ferguson after David Moyes and Louis van Gaal.

"We have good relations and I know this is his house.

"When he wants to come here, to the dressing room, to see the players train, he knows he is more than welcome."

Mourinho took over at Old Trafford in May after Louis van Gaal's departure
Mourinho also said there was more expected of teenage forward Marcus Rashford in the current campaign after the 19-year-old's successful breakthrough last season.

"Last season there were no senior players on the bench waiting for him to make a mistake. The choice was Rashford or Rashford," he added.

"The situation is different this season. The number of injuries is smaller. The expectations about the players is higher.

"[Former United winger] Ryan Giggs' second season [1991-92] was not comparable to the season when he started. Then, in the third season, he reached the level of Giggs. It was the final explosion of Giggs. We want to play young players but sometimes in football, it is about the moment."

DBliss Media Sports
Blind scored his first goal of the season
Manchester United recorded their fourth successive Premier League win with a dominant performance against a Sunderland side which remains in the relegation zone.

United deserved the victory - enjoying 63% of possession and having a total of 25 shots on goal - but only a first-half Daley Blind effort separated the teams until the final 10 minutes.

The Dutchman was put through by a delightful Zlatan Ibrahimovic pass and fired low into the bottom-right corner for his first goal of the season, before United doubled their advantage with Paul Pogba setting up Ibrahimovic with eight minutes remaining.

Match Highlights

Substitute Henrikh Mkhitaryan added gloss to the scoreline with a brilliant backheeled effort, though replays suggested the Armenian was offside.

It is a victory which draws United level with fifth-placed Tottenham, although the north Londoners have a game in hand, against Southampton on Wednesday.

Fabio Borini scored a wonderful late consolation for Sunderland, but defeat - their third in four games - leaves the Black Cats two points adrift of safety.

United find their groove

Both halves belonged to the hosts and the passing statistics emphasised their dominance, with Jose Mourinho's men making 606 passes compared to Sunderland's 177.

But the hosts were unable to shake off the visitors until the introduction of Mkhitaryan after the break added much-needed zip and verve.

Pogba was the dominant player on the pitch, bossing play from the middle of the field and driving his team forward, and while Ibrahimovic played a part in all three goals it was Mkhitaryan who gave his side an extra dimension in attack.

The 27-year-old's strike was a special one, with the former Borussia Dortmund player directing Ibrahimovic's cross into net with the back of his heel.

"It's a pity it was the third goal of the game, not one that won the match because that would've been in Man United history," said Mourinho, who admitted his team were lucky to be ahead in the first half.

"He played for 25 minutes and played well and he's doing great things," added the United manager of the club's summer signing who is now impressing after initially struggling to make an impact.

West Brom 0-2 Man Utd Premier League Match Results & Highlights (Ibrahimovic double gives Man Utd win at West Brom)

DBliss Media Sports
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has scored 16 goals for Manchester United
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored his tenth goal in nine matches as Manchester United eased to victory over West Brom.

The former Sweden international headed home from a brilliant Jesse Lingard delivery after only five minutes to put the visitors ahead.

Ibrahimovic struck again just after the break when his effort from inside the box went in off Baggies defender Craig Dawson.

United are now unbeaten in 10 matches in all competitions and have drawn level on points in the Premier League with fifth-place Tottenham, who play Burnley on Sunday.

The Baggies remain in seventh place and are now seven points off the European places.

Match Highlights

All about Zlatan

Ibrahimovic's double at the Hawthorns brings the striker to 16 goals for the season - 11 more than any of his team-mates.

Lingard will take huge credit for the opening goal, though, after his sublime cross from the right landed perfectly for the Swede, who headed down past Ben Foster from eight yards out.

His second goal was teed up by captain Wayne Rooney and Ibrahimovic managed to worm his way into the box before striking with his right foot on 55 minutes.

Rooney, meanwhile, must wait again to equal Sir Bobby Charlton's record of 249 goals for the club, after he saw a first-half strike from outside the area forced on to the bar by Foster.

The Baggies fail to light up The Hawthorns

West Brom have won three of their past six meetings with United they could not stop their opponents from dominating possession on Saturday evening.

Tony Pulis' side managed one shot on target all match, when Chris Brunt fired at David de Gea in the first half.

Salomon Rondon scored three headers in his side's mid-week victory over Swansea but on this occasion he could only nod wide from Matt Phillips' cross.

It means the Baggies miss out on equalling their Premier League club record of four consecutive home victories.

Two barges and a brawl

United manager Jose Mourinho was forced to defend Marcos Rojo following Wednesday's win over Crystal Palace, after the defender escaped with a yellow card for a two-footed lunge - the second incident of its kind this month.

Defender Rojo went in the book again against West Brom, this time for dissent, after he clashed with Rondon. The Baggies striker was also booked after he appeared to push his opponent in the chest, before slapping him across the face.

And Ibrahimovic may have been lucky to escape with only a yellow card - his sixth of the season - after he barged Dawson off the ball with some force - much to the disdain of the home fans.

And in the latter stages of the game Chris Brunt took out an on-rushing Marcus Rashford and was also booked.

When asked about Ibrahimovic's punishment after the match, Pulis replied: "Ask the 28,000 fans what they thought of it."

Crystal Palace 1-2 Man United Results & Highlights (Ibrahimovic scores late in second half to seal three points)

DBliss Media Sports
Pogba's goal
Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored a late winner as Manchester United beat struggling Crystal Palace in a highly controversial game at Selhurst Park.

James McArthur looked to have earned Palace a crucial point with a composed finish after a wonderful flicked pass by Damien Delaney.

United had taken the lead when Ibrahimovic appeared to handle a pass into the path of Paul Pogba, who finished from close range.

After McArthur's reply, the visitors were then denied a penalty when Palace substitute Joe Ledley handled in his own area before Juan Mata had a goal ruled out for a controversial offside decision.

Man United 1-0 Tottenham Premier League Results & Highlights (Mkhitaryan first half strike the difference)

DBliss Media
Henrikh Mkhitaryan became the first Armenian to score in the Premier League, taking the league's total goalscoring nationalities to 96
Henrikh Mkhitaryan's first Premier League goal gave Manchester United victory over top-four rivals Tottenham.

United, still six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City, led when Mkhitaryan raced on to Ander Herrera's through ball and hammered into the roof of the net.

EPL Table As It Stands

Victor Wanyama should have levelled with a header from six yards out, although visitors Spurs created few chances despite plenty of possession.

Paul Pogba almost made it more comfortable for Jose Mourinho's side when he hit a free-kick against the post, but United ended a run of three games without a win in the league.

The game ended in disappointment for Mkhitaryan, who was taken off on a stretcher with an ankle injury in the final 10 minutes at Old Trafford and has been ruled out until Boxing Day.

Spurs missed the chance to replace Manchester City in fourth and remain fifth, three points above United.

MATCH HIGHLIGHT

It was all lined up to be the perfect afternoon for Mkhitaryan, who has turned around his fortunes at Old Trafford since joining from Borussia Dortmund in the summer.

The 27-year-old, who became the first Armenian to score in the Premier League, had started only one league match in his first four months at the club.

But Mourinho has brought him back into the fold and the result was two goals in as many games for the forward, following a strike in Thursday's Europa League win over Zorya.

Mkhitaryan's revival may have been cruelly cut short, however, after he was carried off the pitch following a challenge by Danny Rose.

Mourinho said the injury was not serious and expects him to be back for the Premier League match at home to Sunderland on Boxing Day.

The Armenian's absence could open up a return to the side for Wayne Rooney, who was an unused substitute, while Marcus Rashford and Juan Mata could also be options.

The only other negative for United was the booing from some supporters of Marouane Fellaini while the Belgium midfielder was warming up to come on as a stoppage-time substitute.

Fellaini conceded the late penalty from which Everton equalised last week, moments after he had come off the bench.

Man of the match - Ander Herrera (Manchester United)

Midfielder Herrera was the driving force behind most of Manchester United's attacks, making five key passes in the game, including the assist for Mkhitaryan's goal
What's next?

Both sides will find out who they will face in the last 32 of the Europa League when the draw is made on Monday.

After that, Manchester United travel to Crystal Palace on Wednesday, while Tottenham host Hull City on the same day (both at 20:00 GMT).

Zorya Luhansk 0 - 2 Manchester Utd Results & Highlights ( Man Utd ease through to knockout stages)

DBliss Media
Henrikh Mkhitaryan had previously scored a hat-trick at the Chornomorets Stadium for Borussia Dortmund
Manchester United reached the Europa League knockout stages by beating Zorya Luhansk as Henrikh Mkhitaryan struck a fine first goal for the club.

The Red Devils dominated in the Ukrainian city of Odessa, but long-range efforts from Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba were their best moments despite having 76% of first-half possession.

But Mkhitaryan, who has now started three games in a row, dribbled from halfway to apply a cool finish after the break.

A key save from Sergio Romero maintained the lead before Zlatan Ibrahimovic raced clear to slot home as United progressed behind Fenerbahce, who won at Feyenoord.

Jose Mourinho's side are now favourites for the competition with most bookmakers but in finishing second in Group A, they go into Monday's last-32 draw as an unseeded side.

Match Highlight

United ground out a first win away from home in the Europa League this season on a pitch he described as "difficult" leading up to the fixture.

Though their final ball was often slack - leading to some visible Mourinho frustration in the first half - they stuck to the task, none more so than Mkhitaryan, who showed balance and poise to create his goal.

Man Of The Match
United struggled to create clear openings until Henrikh Mkhitaryan opened the game up with his solo goal. In tough conditions, he made a key difference on the night.
His haul of a goal and two assists in his run of three starts begs the question as to why Mourinho has not used him regularly since a £26m summer move. But United fans are starting to see the type of quality which saw him named Bundesliga players' player of the season ahead of his move to Old Trafford.

More positives arrive in the fact players such as David De Gea and Anthony Martial were rested - United face Tottenham on Sunday - while Ibrahimovic's form is gathering momentum - his late finish was his sixth goal in seven matches.

Paul Pogba saw a lot of the ball as United had 71% possession on the night
The sight of central defender Eric Bailly completing a fixture for the first time since October will also please Mourinho. The Ivorian - out with a knee injury since October - looked composed, decisive and even shook off a nasty collision to continue late on.
