Years back, Lecrae faced a massive backlash from the some in the Christian community regarding his new direction. This “New Direction” project involved close collaboration with secular artists. Lecrae and Kendrick Lamar have been friends for years, and have collaborated musically this included DJ Premier, Statik Selektah and 9th Wonder. Kendrick should their friendship by making waves when he concluded his "Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe" video with the words "Death to Molly," calling for an end to the glorification of the drug.

Lecrae has always been vocal about his drug-free lifestyle. He gave his friend a nod with this Instagram post and the caption "Pop collars not mollies. Lecrae is known to work with fellow rappers, Tech N9ne, Lupe Fiasco and Hopsin.

The rapper made history last year when he became the only musician in history to reach the No. 1 position on both the Christian charts and Billboard Top 200.
And very recently, Lecrae caused another stir when he announced his deal with Columbia Records, a deal many critical Christians believe is a bad sign but I believe he is on the right track.
